Drawing on a history that spans four decades, Shaw Construction is a family-owned business providing design and general construction services to the commercial building markets. We have developed a unique niche within the light industrial, commercial and retail markets, aligning our service with the needs and expectations of entrepreneurs, business owners, developers, architects and engineers. We deliver our services - which include design/build, tenant finish construction, building renovations and additions - throughout the Twin Cities and upper Midwest.

Site development, municipal process management, phased construction and value engineering are all examples of our commitment to fully support the unique needs of our clients. In addition to traditional construction services, our approach to project delivery includes ”listening“, and creative problem solving for complex projects with challenging schedules.

James B. Swedenborg founded the company in 1977 as Swedenborg Construction. In 1993 the company name was changed to Swedenborg Shaw Construction, reflecting the addition of John N. Shaw (Jack) to the firm's leadership. Now as Shaw Construction, the Shaw family and our associates continue to build on our tradition of quality, competitive personal service.
